Castlereagh Flames won both their opening games of the Scottish Ice Hockey League Division 1 in Scotland in 1990, defeating both Dundee and Kirkcaldy.

Week 2 – 11-13 October 1990
Castlereagh Flames 1 Livingston Kings 7 – Castlereagh Flames lost their first home matches of the 1990-91 season, 7-1 and 4-1 to the Livingston Kings.

Week 3 – 18-20 October 1990
Castlereagh Flames’ fifth game of the season was against Glenrothes Jets, who were looking for revenge after losing to the Flames in the Spring Cup Final in 1989-90.

Week 4 – 8-10 November 1990
Castlereagh Flames 13 Kilmarnock Jetstream Flyers 1 – In their two Matches against Kilmarnock in the second weekend of November 1990, the Castlereagh Flames triumphed 13-1 and 7-5. In the first Gary Irwin scored two in the first period, and Brian Servetnyk and Peter Campion added a hat-trick each.

Castlereag Flames 7 Kilmarnock Jetstream Flyers 5 –In the second game of the weekend, Roberto Comsa scored his hat-trick on the penalty spot, winning the European P & O Ferries Man of the Match Award, as the Flames edged Kilmarnock in the Final Period.

Week 5
Castlereagh Flames defeated Kilmarnock Jetstream Flyers 6-3 in Scotland, thanks to two goals in each period. Flames captain Kevin Griffin opened the scoring in the first period, and the lead was extended to four in the second thanks to two from Dundonald man Simon Kitchen and another goal from Brian Servetnyk. Griffin added two in the Final Period to complete his hat-trick.

Week 9 – 10-12 January 1991
Castlereagh Flames 6 Kirkcaldy Kestrels 3 – Castelreagh Flames won 6-3 in their first match against the visiting Kirkcaldy Kestrels. Kestrels controlled the match in the first two periods, but only lead 2-1 after the first, with Canadian Kevin Griffin scoring for the Flames. Castlereagh were still only 3-2 down at the end of the second thanks to fine goaltending from Darren Hanna, but then in the third period the Flames found rhythm, with Chinese signing Fu Cheng equalising, before Griffin and Jamie Brannigan scored on good indidual efforts and Brian Srvetnyyk finished off the scoring.

Casthereagh Flames 11 Kirkcaldy Kestrels 6 – Local Heros Johnty Flemming and Gary Irwin netted two goals each as the Castlereagh Flames dominated in the second match of the weekend, winning 11-6 against the Kirkcaldy Kestrels. Goaltender Darren Hanna was voted European P & O Ferries Man of the Match.

Castlereagh Flames, based in Dundonald Ice Bowl, Castlereagh, Northern Ireland, finished in third spot in the Scottish Ice Hockey League Division 1 in 1990-91, with Captain Kevin Griffin from Canada, Chinese signing Fu Cheng, Brian Servetnyk, as well as local heros Gary Irwin and Johnson Flemming playing a significant part of their attempt to retain the Division 1 title.
